FARGO — The Northport Library branch is closing temporarily for planned renovations and painting at its location at 2714 Broadway N.

This closure will start on Thursday, Aug. 28, and run until Friday, Sept. 5, according to a release from the city of Fargo.

Throughout construction, the exterior book drop will remain open, the release said, and any items awaiting pickup can be gathered up at the downtown Main Library, 101 Fourth St. N.

This closure does not affect the hours at the Main Library or at the Dr. James Carlson Library, the release said.

Earlier this year, the city of Fargo came under fire from residents when city leaders examined the idea of closing the Northport branch in an effort to balance out the city's preliminary 2026 budget.
