CHICAGO (WLS) -- Arajet is the largest airline of the Dominican Republic.

It provides low-cost flights to destinations in North America, the Caribbean, Central America and South America.

And starting Nov. 15, service begins between Chicago and Punta Cana. It will be Arajet's first route in the Midwest.

Arajet co-founder and CEO Víctor Pacheco Méndez joined ABC7 Chicago Wednesday to talk more about it.

He talked about the airline and the new service.

The airline began operating in 2022 and has rapidly expanded since.

Pacheco Méndez said it took 10 years to get the airline up and running.
