SEATTLE — The Seattle Fire Department and the broader emergency services community are mourning the loss of Lt. Larry Doll, who died unexpectedly while off duty on Aug. 13 at age 55.

He is survived by his wife and son.

Doll faithfully served the city of Seattle for 19 years, beginning his career in 2006. He worked on Engines 11 and 31 before being promoted to lieutenant in 2023. Most recently, he served as one of the department’s medical services officers, overseeing paramedics for an entire platoon — a role that reflected both his clinical expertise and his deep commitment to mentorship and leadership.

Before joining the fire service, Doll served in the U.S. Marine Corps.
