PARIS, Ky. (FOX 56) — As conversations around mental health grow louder across the nation, one local school system is stepping up to help its students succeed in and out of the classroom.
Bourbon County Schools is introducing a new program to help students facing hard times.
Life is unpredictable, and the pressure of academics, sports, and family life can weigh on young people.
"We know if the students are not mentally okay, they are not going to be academically okay," said district mental health coordinator Paula Thompson.
That's why Thompson has launched a program called Handle with Care, a simple, confidential way to give students extra support.
