PEORIA ( 25News Now ) - After a string of bicyclist - involved car accidents , an expert is reminding the public that drivers and cyclists must share the road.

Doug Burgess, the owner of Burgess Driving School, said the rules don’t change for cyclists. Burgess also said bikers should be wearing bright and reflective clothing, have a front and rear light while riding, cycle only on the right edge of the road, and use hand signals to communicate with drivers.

He added that drivers should also use proper etiquette, such as slowing down, allowing enough space, staying cautious, and remaining patient.
