The Kenai Peninsula Community Chorus and Homer High School Concert Choir, under the direction of borough school district choral director Kyle Schneider, began rehearsals last week in preparation for a spring 2026 performance of Mozart’s Requiem. Rehearsals will be held weekly on Thursdays from 7-9 p.m. in the Homer High School choir room.
This will not be the first time that Mozart’s Requiem has been performed locally. Singers in 2001 and 2002 sang the Mass in honor of victims of the Sept. 11 attacks, according to previous reporting by the Homer News.
The participant fee is $150 ($75 per semester) and copies of the score will cost an additional $15 each. Payment plans and partial or complete scholarships are available. Adult singers will have to fill out a school district volunteer appli
