Of all of the changes that University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Coach Alonzo Hampton made to his staff during the offseason, the switch on defense might have been the biggest.

David Calloway was the Golden Lions’ defensive coordinator during the 2023 and 2024 seasons, but he left in January to become the associate head coach and defensive coordinator at NAIA Missouri Valley College. But Hampton didn’t have to look far to find a replacement.

Jeff Burrow, who coached the safeties and was the co-defensive coordinator last season, was promoted to replace Calloway and is now heading a defense that took its share of lumps the previous fall.
