A St. Catharines man’s request for house arrest on a child pornography conviction because he had only viewed the disturbing material but had never touched a child in real life was quickly shot down in court.
“You must realize that even though you personally did not abuse these children, they were abused in the most horrific and degrading ways all for your pleasure and others on the internet,” Judge Janet Booy told Russell Skeini in Ontario Court of Justice in St. Catharines on Tuesday.
“Without the demand of this type of vile material there would not be a market. It is individuals such as yourself who possess child pornography that drive the market to continue. You yourself are contributing to the market of this morally repugnant material.”
