WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) - There’s a golf tournament coming up in September that is changing its name to honor a long-time supporter. It’s a great way to honor someone who was a great guy.

The 12th annual golf tournament to benefit Immaculate Heart Central sports will be held in the middle of September.

“This year’s tournament will be held September 12th at Thompson Park Golf Course. Shotgun start at 10 o’clock. It’s an annual tournament, but it’s the first year for the Shawn Baker Memorial Tournament,” said IHC Booster Club President Dave Missert.

Shawn Baker was a 1971 graduate of Immaculate Heart Central. He was also a long-time coach at Belleville Academy and later principal at Belleville Henderson. Baker was inducted into the Immaculate Heart Central Hall of Fame in 2016.
