NEW YORK (PIX11) – If you’re planning to leave New York City for the Labor Day weekend, be prepared to leave early, according to INRIX.
Travelers are encouraged to leave the Big Apple before 1 p.m. on Thursday. The worst traffic times for Labor Day travel on Thursday will be from 1 p.m. – 8 p.m.
On Friday, avoid the roads from noon to 8 p.m. INRIX said to save time on Saturday, try to hit the roads before 10 a.m.
If you’re heading back to New York City, the best time to drive is before 11 a.m. on Sunday.
INRIX said the traffic on Monday will probably be the worst from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. Gas prices will be a bit kinder than last year, though, dropping to $3.15 a gallon in New York City and $3.05 in New Jersey.
The prices for travel are cheaper than in 2024, according to AAA. Flight costs
