Drummer Josh Freese has given his first interview since being fired from Foo Fighters earlier this year, telling the New York Times that “it wasn’t music that I really resonated with.”

Freese, who has since rejoined Nine Inch Nails and is currently playing with the industrial band on its North American tour , discussed the pressure of taking over the Foos’ drum kit following the passing of the Taylor Hawkins.

“I’m coming in as Dave Grohl’s drummer, and the guy that’s supposed to save the day after the beloved Taylor Hawkins died,” said Freese, adding he felt “like I had to be firing on all cylinders all the time.” Related Video
