CHEYENNE — At 6-foot-5, 285 pounds, Isaac Clay is figuratively a mountain of a young man.

The senior dwarfs most of his Cheyenne East teammates and many of his coaches.

Clay also has posted a maximum bench press of 305 pounds, squat of 365 and deadlift of 405.

With measurables like those, it’s no wonder he earned first team all-conference honors during his first season as a starting offensive lineman for the Thunderbirds. However, it would be foolhardy to say that Clay’s football success is merely tied to his measurables. Clay is more than a big body who muscles around other large humans.
