OCEAN COUNTY, N.J. (WPVI) -- A grocery store chain has agreed to pay $75,000 in fines over a labeling issue that led to the sale of spoiled meat.

Ocean County officials announced the consent agreement with Stop & Shop this week.

It started with complaints about spoiled meats and poultry products being sold at the Tom's River location.

An investigation found the products were marked with the dates that they were put on display, rather than the dates they were packaged.

This was found to be the case at all five Stop & Shop locations in Ocean County.
