FRANKFORT, Ky. – The Commonwealth will honor Minneapolis shooting victims this week.

In a release, Gov. Andy Beshear directed all flags at state buildings to be lowered to half-staff in accordance with a proclamation from the White House.

Flags will be lowered until sunset on Sunday, August 31, to honor the victims of a shooting at Annunciation Church. Two children were killed and six are in critical condition, per NBC News.

“American children should be safe and feel safe in their schools, yet our country is mourning the heartbreaking loss of two children – each a child of God – taken too soon by yet another senseless act,” said Gov. Beshear. “Today, Kentucky stands with Minneapolis and all the families affected,” says Gov. Beshear.
