CHARLOTTE, N.C. — North Carolina House Representative Tricia Cotham announced she will undergo surgery this week due to what she described as "serious complications."
"I've been recovering the last few weeks from medical procedures," Cotham said in a statement . "I know the recovery will be intense and lengthy."
She added that she will take a step back from public appearances and communication while she recovers.
"I apologize in advance for any inconveniences and my inability to communicate," she said. "I ask for your prayers and well wishes."
Cotham, who represents the 150th district, took office in January 2025 and is serving a term that runs through January 2027.
