CAIRO, Ill. (WSIL) -- Arrowleaf, alongside community stakeholders, announced the grand opening of the Cairo African American Heritage Trail Welcome Area. The event will take place on Thursday, August 29, 2025, at 12:00 PM at 1401 Washington Avenue in Cairo, Illinois.

This new welcome area offers a drive-through experience showcasing Cairo's cultural legacy and its role in America's racial history. It is funded through the Healing Illinois initiative, a collaboration between the Field Foundation of Illinois and the Illinois Department of Human Services.
