OWENSBORO, Ky. (WFIE) - The Kentucky Special Olympics Softball Tournament is coming back to Owensboro for the second year.
According to a press release, more than 500 Special Olympics athletes from throughout Kentucky are set to hit the fields at Jack C. Fisher Park.
Officials say this is the second year of the Tournament’s second run in Owensboro. Jack Fisher Park hosted the event from 2001 to 2007 before the Tournament moved to Bowling Green.
There will be 40 teams, including five from Owensboro, competing for medals in 10 divisions in the State Tournament.
Two additional teams, including one from Owensboro, will take part in the Skills Competition.
Games are set to begin on Friday, September 5 at 6 p.m. on all four Fisher Park fields and continue with four more games at 7:15 p.m. a
