KANSAS CITY — A Kansas City man will spend 33 months in federal prison for embezzling $612,000 from his employer.
The Western District of Missouri says Jeremy M. Ubben, 41, was also sentenced to three additional years of supervised release and is ordered to pay thousands of dollars in restitution to his former employer, the IRS and the state of Missouri.
Ubben pleaded guilty to one count of wire fraud, one count of income tax evasion, and one count of money laundering in February. Ubben admitted to embezzling the money from his law firm from March 2023 to August 2024. Ubben was the firm’s business manager and he had full administrator rights to the firm’s online payroll processing program. Ubben also failed to file a federal income tax return for tax year 2023.
