Wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling is coming to the 49ers, all right.
But he will not occupy a spot on the team’s 53-man roster.
Valdes-Scantling is ticketed to join the 49ers’ practice squad, league sources told NBC Sports Bay Area.
General manager John Lynch on Wednesday confirmed the acquisition Valdes-Scantling, which widely was reported earlier in the day, when he spoke about Jauan Jennings’ status with the 49ers.
“We’re working to get the best mix out there,” Lynch said. “We added a piece today in MVS, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, and we’re thrilled to have him part of it.”
Valdes-Scantling will join veteran receivers Robbie Chosen and Malik Turner, as well as rookie receiver Junior Bergen on the 49ers’ practice squad.
