CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The late soul great Sam Moore’s widow Joyce Moore encapsulates the experience of the 1995 Concert For the Hall of Fame in Cleveland with a degree of perspective.
“That was crazy,” remembers Moore, whose husband was there to perform the Sam & Dave hits “When Something Is Wrong With My Baby” and “Hold On, I’m Comin’” backed by Memphis mates Booker T. & the MG’s. “The whole backstage thing was ridiculous. It was very crowded. It was very cramped. There were many missed cues. There were things kinda going wrong and off at the time...all the usual stuff when you’ve got 8,000 people on a show.
“And nobody really cared. It was a lot of fun. It was quite a spectacular.”
