Nearly a dozen Michigan Claire's stores, a jewelry and accessory mall chain favored by tweens, teens and young women, will close among 291 closures announced by the company as part of its bankruptcy process .

Claire's Holdings LLC , which announced on Aug. 20 it had sold its North American business to private equity firm Ames Watson for $104 million, listed 291 stores it plans to close in a court filing on Monday, Aug. 25.

Nationally, stores listed as closing include 235 Claire's locations in the U.S. and 56 Icing stores. The filing also listed 830 stores – 785 Claire's locations and 45 Icing locations – that are not expected to close immediately.

The company lists 38 stores in Michigan on its website; 11 are listed as closing and 22 are listed as not closing in court documents.
