For the first time in more than a month, Republic Services said on Thursday that it's meeting at the negotiating table with Teamsters Local 25, the union of trash collectors whose members have been on strike since July 1.

A spokesperson for Republic Services said the meeting was going on as of 11 a.m. Thursday. On Wednesday night, the company issued a statement saying, " As we have in each of the previous sessions, we will come to this meeting ready to negotiate an agreement that benefits our employees, customers and the communities we serve. We are hopeful that Local 25 comes to the meeting with the same intent."
