NEW HAVEN, Conn. — Amtrak unveiled five new high-speed Acela trains Thursday, which serves passengers at New Haven’s Union Station.
"It's a very exciting day and we hope our customers feel the same way," Anabel Mamone, Amtrak’s manager of government affairs said.
The next-generation Acela trains are part of a broader upgrade to Amtrak’s Northeast Corridor service, which connects several major cities together.
"You can expect a faster ride along the Northeast Corridor, so from Washington to Boston and all the stops along the way," Mamone said.
The new trains can reach speeds up to 160 mph, offering shorter travel times and increased frequency. With greater capacity than previous models, more passengers will be able to board.
