WALLINGFORD, Conn. — A police officer is recovering from surgery after being injured while trying to restrain a man behaving aggressively at the On-Track Karting in Wallingford on Wednesday evening.

Wallingford police were called to On-Track Karting on 984 North Colony Rd. around 7:30 p.m. for a report of an intoxicated person arguing with employees and being aggressive towards patrons.

Arriving officers found Tevin Robles, 28, who at first charged at the police cruiser. He was allegedly uncooperative and tried to leave while police were talking to him.

In a physical struggle, Robles tried to resist, and one of the officers ended up with a broken tibia and fibula, major bones in the lower leg, police said. The officer was taken to an area hospital for surgery.
