MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) -- The Montgomery County Department of Police (MCPD) and University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) announced a new partnership on Thursday, creating educational opportunities for officers and their families.
MCPD employees, their spouses and dependents, will now be eligible for discounted tuition rates for programs at UMGC, underscoring the university's "commitment to supporting law enforcement personnel in their pursuit of higher education and professional growth," officials said in a statement.
UMGC will grant 60 college credits to officers who become certified Maryland police officers, having completed the police academy and field training. The university also said it would recognize up to 30 additional credits based on prior learning and workpla
