MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) -- A Washington, D.C. man will spend the next two decades in prison after he killed then-49-year-old Leslie Preer in her Chevy Chase home over 24 years ago.
His sentencing is the long-awaited conclusion to a cold case murder that happened in 2001.
On Aug. 28, Eugene Gligor, now 45, was ordered to spend 22 years in prison, followed by five years of probation upon his release. He was arrested in mid-June 2024 and charged with the Maryland mother's murder.
Police showed up to Preer's home in the 4800 block of Drummond Avenue back on May 2, 2001, after she failed to show up for work -- something that was unlikely of her, according to coworkers, friends and family.
Officers found her murdered in the house, leading to a decades-long investigation.
