At 6:55 a.m. on Thursday, August 28, 2025, crews responded to a fire in a high-rise apartment in the 400 block of Kennedy Street.

Firefighters found smoke and flames inside the building and quickly brought the blaze under control by 7:40 a.m., containing it to one suite. Some residents evacuated, while others sheltered in place. One person was assessed on scene but did not require hospital care. The cause remains under investigation and damage estimates are not yet available.
