Today, there a plaque about the Rondeau pavilions will be unveiled in the parking lot next to Rondeau Joe’s, just outside the provincial park gates, at 11:30 a.m..
Three generations of local people were lucky enough to enjoy good times at three different dance pavilions. All three featured excellent live music and refreshments, and gave (mostly young) people a chance to enjoy the summer breezes and meet others.
The first pavilion was built near where the park store is today, largely through the efforts of the first park superintendent, Isaac Gardiner. The Gardiner Family Band was a regular feature, and you could get tickets to dance for five cents, or six for 25 cents.
