The former Navistar truck assembly plant, which provided good-paying manufacturing jobs, has long closed and since been demolished, but the tradition of an employee reunion continues.

The event, which started last year after a five-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, is being held Sept. 11 at the Moose Lodge in Chatham.

“Anybody can come that actually worked at the plant, it’s not just limited to the retirees,” said event organizer and Navistar retiree Cy Addley.

He said the return of the reunion last went well with about 140 people attending.

Addley said the event is a great time to catch up with people you worked with for much of your life, enjoy a good meal and have a few drinks together.

“Sometimes this might be the only time we see (former co-workers),” he said.
