The Michigan high school football season has arrived as a majority of games around the state get underway on Thursday.
Prior to those festivities, a pair of high school girls’ flag football games took place in the morning at Wayne State University in Detroit, as part of the 20th annual Prep Kickoff Classic showcase.
The first of two such matchups featured Macomb L’Anse Creuse North and Gibraltar Carlson, two teams that competed in the sport’s inaugural Michigan high school state championships back in June. Both North and Carlson overall are two of roughly 40 schools that fielded teams back in the spring for a sport that has seem rapid growth in recent years.
By the end of Thursday’s hour-long exhibition, it was the Marauders from Carlson walking away with a 24-6 victory over the North C
