RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — The suspect in a Bladen County deadly shooting last month was arrested in Raleigh on Wednesday, records show.
According to the Bladen County Sheriff's Office, shots were fired on July 20 around 12:30 a.m. during a trail ride event in the area of Spring Branch Road in Tar Heel. Responding deputies found 20-year-old Samir Tileek Register with a gunshot wound on the side of the road.
Register later died from his injuries, according to the sheriff's office.
A warrant filed by the sheriff's office shows 19-year-old Elijah Jamal Dixon of Clinton was identified as the suspect. He is charged with first-degree murder in Register's death.
On Wednesday, according to jail records, Dixon was apprehended by the Raleigh Police Department.
