RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — After Saint Augustine's University spent months fighting for its accreditation, the school's interim president is leaving just before classes begin.
According to the Board of Trustees, Dr. Marcus H. Burgess submitted his resignation July 16, which went into effect on Sunday. The Board of Trustees said Burgess cited personal reasons for his departure.
"We extend our sincere gratitude to Dr. Burgess for his leadership and service during a pivotal period in the University’s history," a statement from the board said. "His commitment and dedication to the mission of Saint Augustine’s University have been deeply valued."
