EUGENE, Ore. - A high-speed incident on Highway 58 led to the arrest of a 25-year-old Eugene man on Saturday evening, according to the Lane County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the Lane County Sheriff's Office, Dunken Deshaun Joshua Thornton was arrested after allegedly sideswiping a minivan and nearly causing a head-on collision. The driver of the oncoming vehicle remains unidentified.

Sheriff’s deputies responded at about 5:30 p.m. on Aug. 23 to assist Oregon State Police troopers with a traffic incident on Highway 58 near milepost 22. Authorities said that a westbound silver Pontiac coupe passed a brown Kia minivan in a no-passing zone, causing an oncoming vehicle to swerve onto the shoulder to avoid a head-on crash.
