KIDDER COUNTY, ND (KXNET) - The North Dakota Highway Patrol reports that there has been a fatal rear-end crash in Kidder County that took place on August 28 at approximately 6:40 a.m.

Road conditions were dry, and weather conditions were foggy.

According to a press release obtained by KX News from the NDHP, on I-94 mile marker 196 eastbound, a 2012 Nissan Versa was traveling in the passing lane at a high rate of speed when it struck a 2023 Subaru Crosstrek from behind.

The driver of the Versa, a 20-year-old male from Bismarck, was reported to have died at the scene. While the driver of the Crosstrek, a 63-year-old male, was taken to a local hospital by an ambulance to treat life-threatening injuries.

The crash remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
