BISMARCK, ND (KXNET) — North Dakota Health and Human Services is inviting public feedback on a proposed amendment to its Medicaid waiver that supports individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

The amendment, part of the Traditional IID/DD Home and Community-Based Services waiver, introduces “host homes” as a new service for youth experiencing crises.

Host homes would offer temporary, licensed family settings where children can receive specialized care while remaining connected to their biological families. The initiative, funded by the 2025 Legislature, aligns with HHS’s goal of expanding access to high-quality services.

Additional updates in the waiver include revised language on internal procedures and provider compliance with incident reporting requirements.
