The case for a Calgary man arrested by RCMP after being targeted by Airdrie youths in a to-catch-a-predator-scheme will be on hold until early September.

In a hearing that took place at the Airdrie Court of Justice, counsel for Zain Alnoor Merchant asked for the matter to be moved to next week to get up to speed on the file.

It also looked to transfer a publication ban on the case.

Merchant’s case will be returning to the Airdrie court on Sept. 4, at 9:30 a.m.

Last week, duty counsel that appeared before the court on behalf of Merchant to adjourn his case.

Currently, he voluntarily remains in custody at the Calgary Remand Centre.
