MEDINA COUNTY, Ohio (WOIO) - A Cleveland Police detective was placed on unpaid administrative leave after he was indicted for unlawfully detaining a man he called ‘illegal’ at a bar back in April 2024.

Cleveland Police Detective Donald Kopchak and ex-DEA agent Daniel LaJack were indicted on the following charges on Tuesday in Medina County Common Pleas Court:
2 counts of abduction
Ethnic intimidation
Assault
The charges stem from an incident where Kopchak and LaJack from the Lake County Narcotics Agency were accused of illegally detaining a man because they believed he was in the country illegally .
