BURTON, Ohio — Geauga County leaders and fair officials cut the ribbon this week on a new Poultry Barn and Youth & Livestock Center at the Great Geauga County Fairgrounds, just in time for the opening of Ohio’s oldest county fair.

The project was approved by county commissioners in October, when they committed $750,000 toward the barn’s estimated $792,000 cost, according to board agenda records.

The Geauga County Agricultural Society, which runs the fair, paid for the remainder.

All three commissioners, Carolyn Brakey, Jim Dvorak and Ralph Spidalieri, attended the ribbon cutting on Monday.
