Los Angeles Lakers owner Jeanie Buss and team president Rob Pelinka made the trip to Poland this week to watch Luka Doncic lead Slovenia in EuroBasket 2025, a courtside show of support for the franchise’s new superstar.

In an interview with Slovenian outlet Radio 1, Buss opened up about Doncic’s emotional reaction to the blockbuster trade from Dallas earlier this year. “ I’ve never had a player come to the Lakers and be as sad as he was, ” Buss admitted, noting the move came as a complete surprise to Doncic. She added that while the transition was difficult, he has now fully embraced life in Los Angeles.

Buss also recalled the late Kobe Bryant bringing daughter Gianna to watch Doncic play, calling it a lasting connection between the Lakers legend and their new face of the franchise.
