SEAFORTH – “We love it.”

That’s how Joe and Mary Ryan of Seaforth describe their experience hosting international students attending high schools for the Huron-Perth Catholic and Avon Maitland school boards in Huron and Perth counties.

The Ryans hosted their first international student with Avon Maitland in 2014 after selling their farm and moving to Seaforth, where they found themselves with extra time on their hands. Their first student was from Brazil, and the Ryans have since hosted students from Spain, Italy, South Korea, Japan, Thailand and Chile. So far they’ve hosted 21 students and three teachers, and this month they’ll welcome their newest student who hails from the Canary Islands in Spain.
