VALLEY CITY — For anyone who’s ever had experience with feral barn cats, sweet Peter is a bit of a shock to the system.
He first fetched up in a storage shed on the property of Sheyenne River Friends of Animals’ volunteer Crystal Aakre, and it turned out he belonged to no one in their neighborhood.
Amazingly, without what appears to be any benefit of being socialized by humans, Peter is extremely affectionate and seeks out the company of humans.
That’s unusual with feral cats, which often avoid humans and prefer the exclusive company of their fellow cats.
Peter enjoys spending time with other cats too — as a matter of fact, the only animals he doesn’t appear to enjoy are dogs.
He’s still yet to be neutered, and about a year old, it’s high time.
