FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - New numbers from crews battling the Garnet Fire show that the blaze has grown to almost 14,000 acres as of Thursday morning.
It comes as Fresno County declared a state of emergency due to what was described as a "challenging" wildfire.
Details released by the Sierra National Forest at around 8 a.m. on Thursday put the fire at 13,934 acres and 0% contained. A total of 986 personnel are working to control the Garnet Fire.
According to the Sierra National Forest, the Garnet Fire continued to burn actively from Wednesday night into Thursday morning, with the majority of fire growth to the north. Activity was also seen on the southeast corner as well, but it is still holding north of the Kings River
