A new contender has stepped up to the plate in Texas politics, as former Major League Baseball first baseman Mark Teixeira announced his bid for a congressional seat on Thursday. The Republican is seeking to fill the open seat being vacated by Rep. Chip Roy, who is running for Texas Attorney General.
Teixeira, a World Series champion who spent a portion of his career with the Texas Rangers and New York Yankees, declared his readiness to “help defend President Trump’s America First agenda” in a statement on X.
He also expressed a commitment to “serve my country, my state, and the conservative principles that have made Texas the envy of the nation.”
The move marks a new chapter for the
