Teixeira announced his bid Thursday for the 21st District seat being vacated by Republican Rep. Chip Roy, who is running for Texas attorney general. Teixeira, a former Texas Rangers and New York Yankees player, vowed to support President Donald Trump's agenda and end what he called “radical woke indoctrination.” He and his family moved back to Texas in 2021 after he retired from baseball. The district west of Austin and San Antonio covers an area with deeply conservative voters.
