DUBUQUE, Iowa (KCRG) - The Archdiocese of Dubuque issued a statement in response to the shooting at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis Wednesday.

Archbishop of Dubuque Thomas Zinkula extended his sympathies to those impacted by the shooting, sharing his “heart aches for the young lives lost.”

“I am heartbroken to learn of the tragic shooting during Holy Mass at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis. To think that such violence took place in a sacred space meant for peace and communion makes the sorrow even deeper. My heart aches for the young lives lost, the children and elderly who were injured, their families, and all who now carry this burden of grief. May Christ bring healing and peace.”
