IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) - An Iowa City man was sentenced to federal prison for drug and gun charges on Thursday.
34-year-old Janard Goins, of Iowa City, was sentenced for possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute and possession of a gun in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.
In January 2024, police executed a search warrant and found methamphetamine, crack, marijuana, $5,877, and a pistol inside his home.
Evidence collected from his phone included several photos showing his possession of the pistol, along with further evidence of drug trafficking.
He was previously convicted of a felony in Illinois, according to court documents.
Goins was sentenced to nine years in federal prison along with a three-year supervised release.
