BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) -- A Sloan man pleaded guilty on Thursday afternoon to one count of criminal possession of a firearm after discharging a firearm inside of a residence and shooting a 2-year-old, the Erie County District Attorney's Office announced.
Shannon Rose, 19, was found in possession of a firearm on July 20 following an investigation into the shooting at a residence on the 100 block of Lackawanna Avenue in Sloan.
Officials said Rose discharged the gun through a door during a domestic incident involving another person. The bullet reportedly ricochetted and then injured the toddler in the other room.
The toddler was taken to Oishei Children's Hospital and is still recovering from his injury.
Rose fired the weapon in self-defense, an investigation found.
