APTOS — As is common this time of year, Cabrillo College’s football team is pretty much an unknown entity, but optimism on the team is high.

Fans will learn a bit more when their beloved Seahawks host Contra Costa in the teams’ season opener Saturday, and each successive week.

It’s an annual battle for coaches to fill holes in the roster left by graduated players, transfers and dropouts. Cabrillo graduated quite a bit of players from last year’s 3-7 team, and lost a few locals to other community college programs in the greater Bay Area, but the Seahawks also brought in plenty of talent and believe their destiny is in their hands.
