ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — A Brighton man with a lengthy record of theft-related arrests was taken into custody Wednesday after deputies said he stole merchandise from a Dick’s Sporting Goods in Henrietta and fled on foot through a shopping plaza.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were notified around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday by Home Depot loss prevention at 770 Jefferson Road that 58-year-old Christopher Cole was trespassing on the property.
A loss prevention employee followed Cole to the nearby Dick’s Sporting Goods on Jefferson Road, where he was seen filling a duffel bag with items and leaving without paying.
When store employees tried to stop him, deputies said, Cole spit in the face of the Home Depot worker and ran.
He was seen entering Bob’s Furniture, also in the Market
