MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The City of Memphis said that the search for MATA's new CEO hasn't been halted but instead "extended in an effort to expand the candidate pool."
The Memphis Area Transit Authority (MATA) told FOX13 Tuesday that the search for its new CEO had been "suspended until further notice." That suspension came a day before MATA was set to interview candidates for the position.
But the City of Memphis felt that pool of candidates was "too narrow to move forward in good faith." Of the six initial finalists, three withdrew during the search, according to the city.
The city also mentioned MATA's management contract with TransPro, set to expire, and a new City Council-appointed trustee as factors for extending the CEO search.
